(a) Subsection 2(1) of the Migration Legislation Amendment (Consequential Amendments) Act 1989 provides as follows:
(1) This Act, other than section 4, commences immediately before the commencement of section 4 of the Migration Legislation Amendment Act 1989.
Section 4 commenced on 19 December 1989.
(b) Subsection 2(1) of the Migration Legislation Amendment Act (No. 2) 1989 provides as follows:
(1) This Act commences, or is to be taken to have commenced, as the case requires, immediately before the commencement of section 26 of the Principal Act.
Section 26 commenced on 19 December 1989.
