Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) If a child or young person is charged with an offence at a police station, the person who charged the child or young person must promptly take all reasonable steps to tell 1 of the following people the relevant information in relation to the charge (whether or not the person lives in the ACT):
(a) a parent of the child or young person;
(b) if no parent of the child or young person has parental responsibility for the child or young person—someone else who has daily care responsibility, or long-term care responsibility, for the child or young person.
(2) In this section:
"relevant information", for a charge, means—
(a) the terms of the charge; and
(b) where the child or young person is; and
(c) when the child or young person will be
brought before the Childrens Court.
