Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts Australian Capital Territory Consolidated Acts(1) This section applies if a provision of this Act requires a person to act in relation to a parent of, or a person with parental responsibility for, a child or young person.

The person is not required to act in relation to the parent or
other person if the person cannot after reasonable inquiry find the parent or
other person.

In making a decision under this chapter for a child or young person, the decision-maker must regard the best interests of the child or young person as the paramount consideration (see s 8 (1)).
In making a decision under this chapter otherwise than in relation to a particular child or young person, the decision-maker must consider the best interests of children and young people (see s 8 (2)).
