REGISTRAR-GENERAL (CONSEQUENTIAL (NO 64 OF 1993)


TABLE OF PROVISIONS

           Long Title

   PART I--PRELIMINARY SHORT TITLE

   1.      This Act may be cited as the Registrar-General (Consequential Provisions) Act 1993.  
   3.      In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears—“commencement day” means the day on which the Registrar-General Act 1993 (other than sections 1 and 2) commences; “Deputy Registrar” means a Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, a Deputy Registrar of Business Names, a Deputy Registrar of Securities or a Deputy Registrar of Titles, as the case requires; “Registrar” means the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, the Registrar of Business Names, the Registrar of Incorporated Associations, the Registrar of Securities, the Registrar of Titles or the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys, as the case requires.  

   PART II--CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS AMENDMENT OF ACTS

   4.      The Acts specified in Schedule 1 are amended as set out in that Schedule.  
   5.      The Regulations specified in Schedule 2 are amended as set out in that Schedule.  

   PART III--TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS ACTS OF A REGISTRAR

   6.      An act or thing done by, on behalf of, or in relation to, a Registrar or Deputy Registrar, before the commencement day shall, on and after the commencement day, be taken to have been done by, on behalf of, or in relation to, the Registrar-General.  
   7.      A document or other thing given to, served on, or lodged with, a Registrar or Deputy Registrar shall, on and after the commencement day, be taken to have been given to, served on, or lodged with, the Registrar-General.  
   8.      An instrument made, granted or issued by a Registrar or Deputy Registrar before the commencement day and in force immediately before that day, has effect on and after that day (except in relation to matters that occurred before that day) as if it had been made, granted or issued by the Registrar-General.  
   9.      A reference to a Registrar or Deputy Registrar in any instrument made, granted or issued before the commencement day and in force immediately before that day has effect, on and after that day, as if the reference were (except in relation to matters that occurred before that day) a reference to the Registrar-General.  
   10.     A contract or agreement entered into by a Registrar or Deputy Registrar and in force immediately before the commencement day continues in force on and after that day as if—  
   12.     The rights, privileges, obligations and liabilities of a Registrar or Deputy Registrar existing immediately before the commencement day are, on and after that day, the rights, privileges, obligations and liabilities of the Registrar-General.  
   13.     A certificate issued by a Registrar or Deputy Registrar and in force immediately before the commencement day, is, on and after that day (except in relation to matters that occurred before that day), evidence of the matters stated in the certificate as if it had been issued by the Registrar-General.
