The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title
5
This Act may be cited as the Australian Capital Territory
6
(Self-Government) Amendment Act 2013.

2 Commencement
8
This Act commences on the day after this Act receives the Royal
9
Assent.

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule

concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect

according to its terms.

Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988

1 Subsections 8(2) and (3)
4
Repeal the subsections, substitute:
5
(2) The Assembly is to consist of:
6
(a) such number of members as is provided by enactment
7
(subject to subsection (3)); or
8
(b) until provision is made--17 members.
9
(3) An enactment providing for the number of members of the
10
Assembly (or an enactment amending or repealing such an
11
enactment) has no effect unless it is passed by a number of
12
members at least equal to two-thirds of the number of members
13
provided for, at that time, by or in accordance with subsection (2).
14
(4) Subsection (3) has effect despite anything else in this Act.
