A Bill for an Act to amend the Trade Practices Act
1974
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Trade Practices Amendment (Unconscionable
Conduct - Saving of State and Territory Laws) Act 2000
This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal
Assent.
The Trade Practices Act 1974 is amended as set out in Schedule
1
Insert in part IVA:
51AAC Concurrent operation of State and Territory
Laws
It is the Parliament’s intention that a law of a State or Territory
should be able to operate concurrently with this Part unless the law is directly
inconsistent with this Part.
