PETROLEUM RETAIL LEGISLATION REPEAL BILL 1998
OUTLINE
The Petroleum Retail Legislation Repeal Bill 1998 will repeal the Petroleum Retail Marketing Sites Act 1980 and the Petroleum Retail Marketing Franchise Act 1980.
The Bill also provides for a regulation making power that will allow for transition provisions.
The Commonwealth will not incur any additional costs as a result of this legislation.
NOTES ON CLAUSES
This clause provides that the Act may be cited as the Petroleum Retail Legislation Repeal Act 1998.
This clause provides that the Act will commence on:
• the day of proclamation of the commencement of the Act; or
• if the Act is not proclaimed within six months of receiving Royal Assent, the first day after that six month period has elapsed.
Clause 3 - Schedule(s)
This clause provides that the Acts listed in a Schedule to the Act are to be amended or repealed as set out in the Schedule.
This clause provides for the making of regulations containing savings or transitional provisions to maintain certain provisions in Acts listed in a Schedule to the Act past the date of repeal of the parent Act.

Item 1 - Petroleum Retail Marketing Franchise Act 1980
This item repeals the whole of the Petroleum Retail Marketing Franchise Act 1980
Item - Petroleum Retail Marketing Sites Act 1980.
This item repeals the whole of the Petroleum Retail Marketing Sites Act 1980
