REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT TO THE STATES GRANTS (PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) BILL 2000

OUTLINE

This amendment will correct a clerical error in the Bill which would have had the effect of reducing the amount appropriated for non-government school students with disabilities below that originally proposed by the Government.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

This amendment amends the amounts shown in Schedule 8, Part 2, column 3 of the Bill from $527 to $561 for the years 2001 to 2004 inclusive.

NOTES ON AMENDMENT

Amendment 1

Schedule 8, Part 2 of the Bill sets out the per capita grant amounts for strategic assistance for government and non-government schools for the years 2001 to 2004. This table was previously amended to effect the updating of funding amounts from 1999 final prices to 2000 final prices. As a result of a clerical error the amount for non-government schools in the amendment was incorrect. Amendment 1 corrects the per capita grant amount for non-government schools.
