AMENDMENTS TO THE SUPERANNUATION LEGISLATION (COMMONWEALTH EMPLOYMENT) REPEAL AND AMENDMENT BILL 2002

OUTLINE OF AMENDMENTS

Current provisions in the Bill

The Superannuation Legislation (Commonwealth Employment) Repeal and Amendment Bill 2002 (the Bill) was introduced into Parliament to make amendments to various Commonwealth Superannuation Acts.

The Acts to be amended by the Bill include the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948.

Proposed amendments

The proposed amendments omit from the Bill:

(a) Schedule 4 to the Bill which contains amendments to the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948; and

(b) the reference to Schedule 4 in Item 21 in the table in clause 2 to the Bill, which deals with the commencement of certain provisions in Schedule 4.

Financial Implications

The proposed amendments have no financial impact.

NOTES ON AMENDMENTS TO THE SUPERANNUATION LEGISLATION (COMMONWEALTH EMPLOYMENT) REPEAL AND AMENDMENT BILL 2002

Amendment 1 - Commencement

Amendment 1 amends clause 2 of the Bill (table item 21, column 1) as a consequence of the omission of Schedule 4 by amendment 2.

Amendment 2 - Omission of Schedule 4

2. Amendment 2 removes Schedule 4 to the Bill. Schedule 4 contains amendments to the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948.
