There are no financial implications from these amendments.
NOTES ON AMENDMENTS
These amendments correct the commencement date for two items contained in
the Youth Allowance Consolidation Bill 1999 (the Bill). The items concerned are
to include reference to the Ready Reserve Education Assistance Scheme in the
list of payments receipt of which will preclude a person from youth allowance
and austudy payment.
The items are in Part 6 of Schedule 4 to the Bill,
which is expressed to commence on 1 July 2000. However, it was the
Government’s intention that the items in fact commence on 1 January 2000.
The costings for Schedule 4, as expressed in the Outline and Financial Impact
Statement for the Bill, were based on the intended commencement
date.
Accordingly, these amendments are to correct the commencement date
to 1 January 2000.
