Interpretation 5. Schedule 1983 No. 147 WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 1 Commencement 1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 September 1983. 1983 No. 147 WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 2 Principal Regulations 2. In these Regulations, "Principal Regulations" means the Wireless Telegraphy Regulations. 1983 No. 147 WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 3 Parts 3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is repealed. 1983 No. 147 WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 4 Interpretation 4. Regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations is amended- (a) by omitting the definitions of "exterior paging service, Class A" and "exterior paging service, Class B" in sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following definitions: " 'exterior paging service, Class A' means a system of exterior paging stations providing a radiocommunications service that includes as a component of that system a transmitter operating in other than a high density location, being a transmitter that is capable of transmitting for a distance of up to 40 kilometres; 'exterior paging service, Class B' means a system of exterior paging stations providing a radiocommunications service that includes as a component of that system a transmitter operating in a high density location, being a transmitter that is capable of transmitting for a distance of up to 40 kilometres; 'exterior paging service, Class C' means- (a) an exterior paging service, Class A that operates in conjunction with another exterior paging service, Class A; or (b) an exterior paging service, Class B, that operates in conjunction with another exterior paging service, Class B;"; (b) by inserting in the definition of "fixed station, Class B" in sub-regulation (1) "or telecommand or both," after "telemetry"; (c) by inserting after the definition of "low duty cycle speech" in sub-regulation (1) the following definition: " 'mobile outpost station' means a mobile station that forms part of the outpost service;"; (d) by inserting after the definition of "multipoint distribution station receiver" in sub-regulation (1) the following definitions: " 'multipoint distribution station receiver, Class A' means a multipoint distribution station receiver to which the Department, at the request of the applicant for a licence in respect of the multipoint distribution station receiver, affords protection from interference from radiocommunications transmitters; 'multipoint distribution station receiver, Class B' means a multipoint distribution station receiver other than a multipoint distribution station receiver Class A;"; and (e) by omitting the definition of "outside broadcast television service" and substituting the following definitions: " 'outpost service' means a radiocommunications service- (a) established to provide radiocommunications for communities in remote localities in which the telecommunications service of subscriber trunk dialling is not provided; and (b) in the case of a radiocommunications service established in a locality in which the telecommunications service of a manual trunk telephone exchange is provided-is available only for the following communications, that is to say- (a) communications in the case of an emergency that involves- (i) prejudice to the security or defence of Australia; (ii) a serious threat to the environment; or (iii) risk of death of, or injury to, persons or risk of substantial loss of, or substantial damage to, property; (b) participation in the education programme known as the School of the Air; 'outside broadcast television service' means a radiocommunications service established by a relevant person for the transmission of vision or sound programmes associated with outside events from a moveable station to a studio or transmitter for broadcast to the general public; 'outside broadcast television station' means a station in the outside broadcast television service;". 1983 No. 147 WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) - REG 5 Schedule 5.
