ANIMAL CARE AND PROTECTION ACT 2001 - SECT 166
Failure to comply with information requirement
166 Failure to comply with information requirement
(1) A person of whom an information requirement has been made must comply with
the requirement unless the person has a reasonable excuse. Penalty—
Maximum penalty—50 penalty units.
(2) It is a reasonable excuse— (a)
for an individual not to give information if giving the information might tend
to incriminate the person; or
(b) if the information sought by the
requirement is not in fact relevant to— (i) for a requirement about a
suspected contravention of this Act—the suspected contravention; or
(ii)
for a requirement about whether an animal welfare direction has been complied
with—the compliance or non-compliance with the direction.
