ANIMAL CARE AND PROTECTION ACT 2001 - SECT 99
Appointment and qualifications
99 Appointment and qualifications
(1) The chief executive may appoint an individual as an authorised officer.
(2) However, an individual may be appointed as an authorised officer only
if— (a) the individual is— (i) a public service officer or public service
employee; or
(ii) included in a class of individuals declared under a
regulation to be an approved class of persons for this section; and
(b) the
chief executive is satisfied the individual has— (i) the necessary expertise
or experience to be an authorised officer; and
(ii) satisfactorily finished
training approved by the chief executive.
(3) Subsection (2) does not limit
the issues the chief executive may consider when deciding whether to appoint
an individual as an authorised officer.
