This Act may be cited as the Commonwealth Powers (Air Transport) Act 1950. ÷Operation of Act 2.(1) The Act shall come into operation immediately after the Commonwealth Powers Act 1943 ceases to be in force. Commonwealth Powers Act 1943 expired 2 September 1950 see s 4 and proc pubd Cwlth gaz 25 February 1946 p 481 (2) The Governor in Council may, by proclamation published in the gazette, fix a date upon which this Act shall cease to be in force, and this Act shall cease to be in force on that date. ÷Continuation of reference to Commonwealth of the matter of air transport 3. The matter of air transport shall by virtue of this Act continue to be referred to the Parliament of the Commonwealth in extension of the period for which it was referred by the Commonwealth Powers Act 1943 for a further period commencing on the day on which this Act comes into operation and ending on the date on which this Act shall cease to be in force. s 4 Commonwealth Powers (Air Transport) Act 1950s 4 s 4 Commonwealth Powers (Air Transport) Act 1950s 4 ÷Construction of Act 4. This Act shall be read and construed- (a) as intended to refer to the Parliament of the Commonwealth the matter of air transport for a period terminable in the manner provided in this Act, to the intent that if it is beyond the power of the Parliament of this State to make a reference which is so terminable that matter shall be deemed to be not referred to the Parliament of the Commonwealth by this Act; and (b) so that, after this Act shall cease to be in force, no law made by the Parliament of the Commonwealth with respect to the matter of air transport, whether such law has been enacted before or is enacted after the coming into operation of this Act, shall continue to have any force or effect by virtue of this Act or the reference made by this Act.
