INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT 1999 - SECT 139

139 Termination of employment before apprenticeship or traineeship cancelled or completed

(1) This section applies despite any other provision of this Act if an employer is training—

(a) an apprentice under an apprenticeship; or
(b) a trainee under a traineeship.

(2) The apprentice's or trainee's employment with the employer can not be terminated unless the apprenticeship or traineeship is completed or is cancelled under the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000.

Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
