VICTIMS OF CRIME ASSISTANCE ACT 2009 - SECT 8

8 Fair and dignified treatment

(1) A prescribed person in dealing with a victim is to--

(a) treat the victim with courtesy, compassion, respect and dignity; and
(b) take into account, and be responsive to, the particular needs of the victim, including, for example, needs relating to the victim's--
(i) age; or
(ii) sex or gender identity; or
(iii) race or indigenous background; or
(iv) cultural or linguistic diversity; or
(v) sexuality; or
(vi) impairment; or
(vii) religious belief.

(2) In this section--

victim includes a person who has suffered harm as a direct result of witnessing a crime committed against someone else.
