South Australian Consolidated Acts6B—Power to require medical examination or report
(1) The Registrar may,
as reasonably required for the purposes of determining whether a person is a
fit and proper person to have possession of a firearm or ammunition or to hold
or have possession of a licence for the purposes of this Act, require the
person to—
(a)
submit to an examination by a health professional, or by a health professional
of a class, specified by the Registrar; or
(b)
provide a medical report from a health professional, or from a health
professional of a class, specified by the Registrar,
(including an examination or report that will require the person to submit to
a blood test or some other prescribed procedure).
(2) A person may be
taken not to be a fit and proper person to have possession of a firearm or
ammunition or to hold or have possession of a licence for the purposes of this
Act, if the person fails to comply with a requirement made under
subsection (1).
(3) In this
section—
"health professional" means—
(a) a
medical practitioner; or
(b) a
psychologist; or
(c) a
person of a class prescribed by regulation.
