South Australian Consolidated Acts (1) The
Attorney-General may appoint suitable persons (not being legal practitioners)
to be lay observers for the purposes of this Part.
(2) A lay observer is
not, as such, a Public Service employee, but holds office on terms and
conditions determined by the Attorney-General.
(3) A lay observer is
entitled to be present at any proceedings of the Board or the Tribunal and may
report to the Attorney-General on any aspect of the proceedings of the Board
or the Tribunal.
(4) A complainant in
proceedings before the Board or Tribunal who is dissatisfied with the
proceedings or the decision of the Board or Tribunal is entitled to make
representations directly to the lay observer.
