The Corporation may, at the request and expense of the owner or occupier of
any manufactory or other premises situated in or near any street in which, or
within 100 metres of which, there is a pipe of the Corporation, place as near
as conveniently may be to such manufactory or premises, and maintain in
effective order a fireplug to be used only for extinguishing fires. The
Corporation shall supply a key of every such fireplug to the said owner or
occupier, but the fireplug shall not be opened or used by him except for the
purpose of aiding in extinguishing fires within the water district.
