South Australian Consolidated Regulations7—Proclamation providing for certain matters
(1) The Governor may,
by proclamation made before the expiration of the administration of the
municipal council by the Administrator under the Indenture—
(a)
determine whether the council is to have a mayor or a chairperson; and
(b)
determine the number of councillors who are to constitute, or to be included
in, the membership of the council; and
(c)
divide the area of the council into wards; and
(d)
determine the boundaries of each ward, the name of each ward, and the number
of councillors to be elected for each ward (which number may vary from ward to
ward); and
(e)
determine whether the membership of the council is to include aldermen and, if
so, how many; and
(f)
appoint, or provide for the election of, the first members of the council.
(2) Section 14(1) of
the Local Government Act 1934 will not apply to a proclamation under
subregulation (1).
(3) A proclamation
under subregulation (1) will have effect from the expiration of the
administration of the municipal council by the Administrator under the
Indenture.
