7—Exempt firearms
The following firearms are exempt from the provision of the Act and these
regulations:
(b)
captive bolt guns;
(c)
tools or instruments powered by burning propellant or by compressed air or
other compressed gas;
(e)
devices designed to throw a net to catch animals;
(f)
devices designed to throw an object for shotgun target practice;
(h)
dog retrievers;
(i)
Very pistols used only for signalling distress or
rescuing persons in distress;
(j) a
firearm that—
(i)
has been fitted with a transmitter of infrared
electromagnetic waves or a receiver of such waves or both; and
(ii)
has been modified so as to be incapable of firing a
projectile; and
(iii)
cannot easily be modified to fire projectiles;
(k) an
underwater firearm,
and receivers of firearms referred to in a preceding paragraph.
Note—
The definition of "firearm" in section 5(1) of the Act excludes
an antique firearm. "Antique firearm" is defined in section 5(1).
