FACT SHEET Poisons Amendment Bill 2012 The Bill amends the Poisons Amendment Act 1971 to: Provide for the adoption of the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons (SUSMP) for the purposes of the Act in substitution for references to the Poisons List Order 2001 and Poisons (Prohibited Substances) Order 1990. Address an anomaly identified by the Ombudsman to clarify that a person may bring into Tasmania narcotic and declared restricted substances for his or her own use, or for the use of a family member, while in Tasmania, if the substances have been legally prescribed and dispensed in another State or territory for that person's use. Amend the provisions relating to manufacturing and wholesale chemist licences to change the date that licences are in force until and to provide that licence holders that are not natural persons are to nominate a natural person responsible for compliance with conditions under the licence.
