After section 11 of the Principal Act , the following section is inserted in Division 1:

11A.   Special powers

The Commission has the power, and is taken to always have had the power, to act as a consultant or agent in respect of any one or more of the following matters:

(a) the monitoring of prices of petroleum products;

(b) the monitoring of the compliance of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ACN 123 123 124) with its undertakings relating to pricing, service quality and product range in Tasmania given to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for the purposes of section 87B of the Trade Practices Act 1974 of the Commonwealth in respect of its merger with Colonial Ltd.
