CREMATION REGULATIONS 1999 - NOTES

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Cremation Act 1934.

These regulations are administered in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

(a) prescribe procedures and conditions relating to the approval and operation of crematories and the conduct of cremations; and

(b) provide for the appointment of medical referees; and

(c) prescribe the duties and obligations of medical referees; and

(d) provide for the registration of cremations; and

(e) regulate the disposition or interment of ashes; and

(f) provide for the temporary suspension or modification of any of the provisions of the Cremation Act 1934 or these regulations on the occasion of an epidemic or for other sufficient reason.
