(1)  A Competent Authority may, on application made in accordance with regulations 87 and 195 , approve a design for an IBC for use in the transport of dangerous goods in bulk of a particular type by road or rail if the Authority considers that the design complies with the IBC Supplement.

(2)  The approval of the design may be subject to any condition about the construction, use or maintenance of an IBC manufactured in accordance with the design necessary for the safe use of the IBC.
