GAS (SAFETY) REGULATIONS 2002 (S.R. 2002, NO. 78) - NOTES

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Gas Act 2000.

These regulations are administered in the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation)

These regulations –

(a) prescribe technical and safety requirements to be followed for the safe operation of regulated activities including the mandatory reporting of any incident which might cause death, injury, damage to property or any impact on the security of supply; and

(b) provide for the reporting of incidents; and

(c) provide for the content of safety and operating plans relating to the operation of a gas facility, and other requirements relating to the safety management system, to be observed; and

(d) provide for standards to be followed relating to gas infrastructure installations and gas fitting work and other requirements to be observed so as to ensure safety at all times; and

(e) empower gas entities to enter public land in case of emergency.
