Obligation to report death of a person placed in custody or care

11. Obligation to report death of a person placed in custody or care



(1) The responsible person must report the death of a person placed in custody
or care without delay to a coroner.

Penalty: 20 penalty units.

(2) In this section, responsible person means-

   (a)  in relation to a person referred to in paragraphs (a) to (i) of the
        definition of person placed in custody or care in section 3(1), the
        person who has care, control or custody of the person;

   (b)  in relation to a person referred to in paragraph (j) of the definition
        of person placed in custody or care in section 3(1), the member of the
        police force or the prison officer who attempted to take the person
        into custody;





   (c)  in relation to a person referred to in paragraph (k) or (l) of the
        definition of person placed in custody or care in section 3(1), a
        person prescribed as the responsible person.
