Chief factors to be taken into account in deciding between competing applications

24. Chief factors to be taken into account in deciding between competing
applications



(1) This section applies if more than one application is received in respect
of an area and the Minister decides to grant an exploration permit in respect
of the area.

(2) In determining which applicant, if any, is to be granted the permit, the
chief factors the Minister must take into account are-

   (a)  the respective merits of the work programs proposed by the applicants;
        and

   (b)  the likelihood that the work programs will be carried out.

(3) The chief factors in this section are in addition to the chief factors
specified in the invitation under section 22(2).
