Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) If, on any day on
which polling for an election takes place, a person —
(a)
canvasses for votes;
(b)
solicits the vote of an elector;
(c)
induces an elector not to vote for a particular candidate; or
(d)
induces an elector not to vote at the election,
in a polling place or
within 6 metres from the entrance to a polling place, that person commits an
offence.
Penalty: $2 000.
(2) It is a defence to
a charge under subsection (1) to prove that the accused person was within
6 metres of the entrance to a polling place with the approval of the presiding
officer.
