Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) Subject to
sections 15 and 16 —
(a) a
member of the Senate elected by the students holds office for the term of one
year and is eligible for re-election;
(b) a
member of the Senate elected otherwise than by the students or person who is
appointed to be a member holds office for the term of 3 years from the
date on which he became a member, unless he succeeds to a casual vacancy, and
is eligible to hold office for 2 further such terms of 3 years each;
[(c) deleted]
(d) a
person who is co-opted to be a member of the Senate holds office for such
period not exceeding 3 years as is fixed by the Senate at the time of
co-option.
(2) A member of the
Senate who has held office by election, appointment or co-option for
3 successive terms is not thereafter eligible to hold office as a member
until the expiry of a period of 12 months from the last day on which he
was a member.
