Western Australian Consolidated Acts (1) A petroleum lease,
while it remains in force, authorises the lessee, subject to this Act and in
accordance with the conditions to which the lease is subject, to explore for
petroleum, and to carry on such operations and execute such works as are
necessary for that purpose, in the lease area.
(2) A geothermal
lease, while it remains in force, authorises the lessee, subject to this Act
and in accordance with the conditions to which the lease is
subject —
(a) to
explore for geothermal energy resources in the lease area; and
(b) to
recover geothermal energy in the lease area for the purpose of establishing
the nature and probable extent of a discovery of geothermal energy resources;
and
(c) to
carry on such operations and execute such works in the lease area as are
necessary for those purposes.
