Western Australian Consolidated Regulations No person shall
construct or cause to be constructed any earth closet or privy which does not
comply with the following conditions:
(a) It
shall not be less than —
1.5 m in length,
or
1 m in width, or
2 m in height.
(b) It
shall not be within 6 m of any house or tank, nor within 15 m of any
other water supply, nor within 15 m of the milking shed or milk room of
any dairy, and shall be so constructed that the pan may be withdrawn from the
rear of the convenience.
(c) The
walls shall be of stone, brick, or other material approved by the CEO.
(d)
There shall be at least 2 ventilating openings, of 325 cm 2 , in area,
one in each of 2 opposite walls, and situated 1.8 m above the floor
level.
(e) The
roof shall be of galvanised iron, or other impervious material.
(f) The
door shall be hung so that there is, when the door is closed, a clear space of
at least 8 cm above and below it.
(g) The
floor shall be of approved impervious material, and shall have a uniform fall
of 1 in 30 from back to front and its upper surface shall be not less than
15 cm above the level of the ground adjoining.
(h) The
panstead shall measure 50 cm long by 40 cm wide. It shall be totally
enclosed and constructed in a manner to exclude flies.
(i)
The under surface of the seat shall be 40 cm above
the floor.
(j) A
hinged aperture cover shall be provided to the seat.
(k) A
service door shall be provided in the rear wall of the convenience through
which the pan must be withdrawn.
