Western Australian Consolidated Regulations (1) The probation
period of a training contract begins on the commencement date of employment
stated in question 3 of the contract and is the shorter of —
(a) 3
months; or
(b) the
period that is one-twelfth of the contract’s nominal period,
but in any event must
not be less than one month.
(2) A party to a
training contract may apply to the chief executive before the probation period
of the contract expires for approval to vary the contract by extending the
probation period for a period stated in the application and not exceeding the
length of the probation period determined under subregulation (1).
(3) If the chief
executive grants the application, the approval must state the period, decided
by the chief executive, by which the probation period may be extended, but it
must not exceed the length of the probation period determined under
subregulation (1).
(4) If the application
is granted, the parties may vary the contract by extending the probation
period from its expiry for the period stated in the chief executive’s
approval.
