(1) Without limiting
section 52, an accountable authority of an agency has the functions
of —
(a)
ensuring that the agency operates in a manner that is efficient and economic
and achieves the agency’s objectives; and
(b)
ensuring that the agency complies with this Act, the Treasurer’s
instructions and any other written law that applies to the agency; and
(c)
having the custody, control and management of, and accounting for, all the
public property or other property under the control of the agency; and
(d)
unless otherwise directed in writing by the Treasurer, developing and
maintaining an effective internal audit function for the agency.
(2) The
accountable authority of an agency also has any other function given to the
accountable authority under this Act or another written law.
