A BILL FOR
An Act to amend the Wildlife (General) Regulations 2010 to
reclassify partly protected duck species as protected wildlife
Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with
the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of
Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows
1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Wildlife (Protection of Native
Duck Species) Act 2021.
2. Commencement
This Act commences on the day on which this Act
receives the Royal Assent.
3. Amendment of statutory rules do not prevent their
subsequent amendment
The amendment by this Act of a provision of any
statutory rule does not prevent that, or any other,
provision of that statutory rule from being amended or
rescinded by a subsequent statutory rule.

4. Repeal of Act
This Act is repealed on the three hundred and sixty fifth
day from the day on which all of the provisions of this Act
commence.
5. Regulations amended
The legislation specified in Schedule 1 is amended as
specified in that schedule.

SCHEDULE 1 - REGULATIONS AMENDED
Wildlife (General) Regulations 2010
1. Regulation 15 is amended by omitting subregulation (2).
2. Regulation 37(9) is amended by omitting "or wild duck".
3. Regulation 45 is amended by omitting subregulations (2) and
(3).
4. Regulation 52 is repealed.
5. Regulation 54 is amended by -
(a) omitting "wild duck and" from the title; and
(b) omitting subregulation (1).
6. The table in part 4 of schedule 2 is amended by inserting the
following rows after the row beginning with "Freckled Duck"
in column 2 and "Stictonetta naevosa" in column 3, in columns
2 and 3 respectively -

Grey Teal Anas gracilis
Pacific Black Duck Anas superciliosa
Australian Shelduck (Mountain Duck) Tadorna tadornoides
Australian Wood Duck Chenonetta jubata

7. Part 1 of schedule 4 is amended by omitting the table and
inserting the following table -
