Publication of particular public notices on department’s website
196A Publication of particular public notices on department’s website
(1) This section applies if the registrar is required under this Act to give a
public notice, unless the notice is a gazette notice.
(2) This section
applies even if this Act provides for a particular way in which the notice
must be given.
(3) The registrar must ensure the notice is published on each
relevant website for a total of at least 10 business days.
(4) The 10
business days may be, but need not necessarily be, consecutive.
(5)
Subsection (3) does not prevent the registrar from also giving the notice in
another way the registrar considers appropriate.
(6) In deciding to give the
notice in another way, the registrar must consider the intended audience for
the notice.
(7) In this section—
"give" , for a notice, includes advertising it.
"notice" includes an advertisement.
"public notice" means a notice of a public nature that is not required only to
be given, or only intended for, a particular person or group of persons.
"relevant website" means— (a) the department’s website; and
(b) for a
public notice relating to a titles registry function that has been delegated
to the titles registry operator under this Act—the operator’s website.
